About
The independent steward of the standard.
MortarCAPS Higher Learning Data Standard Limited is the not-for-profit organisation that governs MCDS. We do not sell software. We do not represent a single vendor. Our job is to make the standard work for the sector.
01 What we do
Govern. Convene. Publish.
MortarCAPS exists to do three things — and to do them in the open.
Govern
Stewardship of the standard.
We hold the standard in trust for the sector. Versioning, change control, public draft windows, working group facilitation — the unglamorous work that keeps the standard reliable.
Convene
The sector at one table.
IT, registrars, CIOs, IR, academic, vendors, governments — all sit on working groups together. The standard reflects what the sector actually needs.
Publish
In the open, on a cadence.
Releases follow a public versioned roadmap. The full standard is browsable at InfoCAPS. Anyone can see what's shipped, what's coming, and what's under review.
We do not sell software. We enable the ecosystem.
